It started in 2009 — most of us still in high school, some just hitting college. While our peers were forming gangs and cliques, we decided to build something different. Something of our own. REN began as a collective of close friends who shared the same interests in music, sports, and culture — all centered in faith.
Growing up, we were taught to fear the Most High and walk in His laws and statutes — "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." (Deuteronomy 6:5). Keeping the Sabbath, following His dietary laws, and living set apart from the world made us different from our peers. At the time, standing apart felt isolating. Over the years, we realized it was always the point.
What started as friendship became brotherhood. As life moved forward, our priorities shifted toward something greater — a genuine desire to give back to the community that shaped us. Today, REN is a positive movement rooted in faith, community, and mentorship. Through events, merch, and programs, we're showing the next generation that being set apart is exactly where you want to be.
REN was born from a circle of friends who grew up together in faith and found strength in being different. Now we're passing that strength on — building programs and communities where youth discover that their values are their power.
We envision a generation of young people across Chicago and Northwest Indiana who are Respected, Educated, and grounded in their identity — youth who know who they are, where they come from, and where they're going.
Our foundation. Everything we do is rooted in a genuine belief that living by your convictions is the highest form of strength.
We were built by a circle of friends. We believe that real community — people who hold each other accountable — changes lives.
Know who you are. Being set apart isn't something to hide — it's the thing that makes you powerful.
We give back because someone gave to us. Every program, event, and mentorship is an act of service to the next generation.
Whether you want to volunteer, donate, or just stay connected — there's a place for you in the REN community.
